Haiku Ten – Eight

This haiku welcomes
Musical orchid delight
In verse melodies

Connections through time
Directing education
Emancipation

Words ignite desires
Passions flow beneath covers
Pleasures of reading

A spring flower blooms
Smiling eyes bursting with joy
Beauty in season

Reasons forgotten
Light dims with every heartbeat
Your touch haunts me still

Captured by your smile
Laughing eyes show me the way
Darkness never dawns

Questions surround me
Answers move into focus
Silence without tears

Laughter without tears
Silence without loneliness
Nothing without pain

Restless thoughts ramble
Shadows whisper endlessly
Silhouettes dancing

On a stormy night
An Old Dark House mystery
Imagination

Silhouetted Dreams

Corrupted Words

Silhouetted dreams frozen in moonlight
Shrouded in mist, forgotten and forsaken
Sullen and forlorn, yearning for release
Spiralling memories dance before my eyes

Desires locked in delicate disguise
Passions creep from knowing eyes
Whispered dreams escape in a kiss
As moistened lips part with a sigh

A gentle breeze stirs a silent twilight
Shadows fade into silvery moonlight
Rage burns in the early morning sun
Lost in a velvet darkness without you

Rousing thoughts long at rest in sadness
Tainted lives lost in a trail of inked tears
Sorrow pours forth in corrupted words
Breathe in experience, exhale imagination

Corrupted Words

Washing Dreams Away

Smiling Eyes

It was a fairy tale romance
Right out of books of old
Two meeting in the dark of night
Parting before the morning light

She knew what he needed
She knew how to tease him
She knew how to please him

Darkest desires straining for release
Rapturous innocence breaking free
Flowing from smiling eyes
And tender quivering thighs

He knew what she wanted
He knew how to kiss her
He knew how to touch her

It was her desire
It was her pleasure
It was her release

Giving everything and leaving nothing behind
Lost in twilight that washes dreams away
Frozen laughter stifled by misplaced passion
Sentenced to darkness without reprieve
Obsessed with words that deceive

She will never forget
She will never forgive
She will never be free

Lost in sorrow
Lost in pain
Lost in tears

Smiling Eyes

An Unfinished Love Poem

All I need do is think of you
And you appear as if from a dream
Until then all I do is yearn of you
Longing to be lost in your embrace

As the moon rises everything is just right
In the stars I see the twinkle of your eyes
A never changing gaze that holds me tight
Desires whispered as gentle breezes caress

Sweet lips to taste, kisses in summer rain
Holding hands beneath cloudy skies
Huddling close on cold winter nights
Your smile brightens the darkest of days

No matter your mood or time of day
Your inner beauty shines through
With feelings no words can explain
Your loving eyes take me away

Knowing you will always be there
Until the stars fall from the sky
Lighting up eyes so blue
With a love that heals in so many ways

Micro Poetry Times Five

Some things are meant to be
And some things never will be
It is the things lost in between
That make life worth living

Is this really the only rout?
Thoughts turning inside out
Memories always in doubt
Asking what is it all about
While trying not to shout

Sitting at the bottom of a glass
Swimming through lost time
Tasting passions flowing by
Imbibed thoughts wander still

Caught in this brief moment in time
Lost worlds collide, forming clarity
Fixed illusions dissipate into nothing
Words coalesce, framing perceptions

Awaken to bird song and sunlight
Eyes sticky with last night’s dreams
Soon washed away and forgotten
A morning like any other

Haiku Ten – Five

Dreams live forever
A frozen moment in time
Just paper in fire

Words crowd around me
Lost in thought as time passes
Only memories

Lies betray the words
Hiding behind smiling eyes
Deceit becomes truth

A lost Valentine
Searching the maelstrom of love
A Twitter romance

Pausing for a breath
Broken memories calling
Lost horizons blur

Waiting patiently
All dressed for a holiday
Silent companion

Lips touch, lost in time
A sweet embrace, dreams fulfilled
Silver screen desires

A single snow drop
Beauty reaching to the sun
Garden of desires

Excitement rises
Lights dim, the projector whirls
Then there was silence

Black and white day dreams
Longing for silent kisses
Lost in the shadows

The Enchanted Forest

The following poem was inspired by the photo below. Sarah Ward Smith (Twitter: @theodoremoo) sent me the photo and asked if I would write a poem about it. This is what happened…

Forgotten Tales

A gently breeze echoes through the enchanted forest
The moon and stars are muted with billowing clouds
And half remembered tales linger among silent trees
Their words trapped in darkness searching for home

As twilight falls excited voices erupt into the night
Chilled with fear as they wander aimlessly onward
Thoughts glimpsed in the distance just out of sight
Distorted views encircle as perception is narrowed

Imagination rustles the damp carpet of pine needles
Sadness and doubt circle as a low lying mist rolls in
Whispered words from lost fables breathe once more
Releasing tormented memories in a thunderous roar

A blood red cloak hangs, dripping with tears of rage
Discarded and unrecognized, a symbol of innocence
Anguished souls united in their struggle for freedom
Imprisoned in the enchanted forest by the rising sun

Forgotten Tales

A Mournful Lament

A Moment in Time

Caught in this brief moment in time
Lost worlds collide, forming clarity
Fixed illusions dissipate into nothing
Words coalesce, framing perceptions

Lives once sure now become unstuck
Random thoughts compete for stability
Finding only certainty in the mundane
And order in the chaos left behind

Discarded memories search for comfort
Only to be flung into an abyss of despair
Torn apart by deceit, treachery and fear
Voices chant a mournful lament of shame

Tears flow in rhythm to the falling rain
Washed away, hidden from prying eyes
A practiced smile worn for everyday use
Hidden in this briefest moment in time

A Moment in Time 2

A Doris Day Tanka

With blue eyes smiling
From big band to silver screen
Que Sera, Sera
Dreams preserved in celluloid
A sentimental journey

A Doris Day Tanka

Haiku Ten – Four

Soulful eyes embrace
Delicate soft lips to kiss
Beauty in full bloom

Lie back in comfort
Watch the flakes float by and dance
Whispered thoughts of spring

Longing for darkness
Peace and serenity shines
The light of sadness

Echoes fade in light
Shifting winds and silent flakes
A gentle snow falls

The snow has fallen
All rejoiced at the beauty
Then there was silence

Passions sharing thoughts
Amidst cold winds and dark skies
No blossoms in bloom

A cloak of wonder
Unseen to unknowing eyes
Hidden from within

From this point of view
Gazing into eyes so blue
Tears like morning dew

Frosted windows blur
Thoughts stir of days long ago
Your thoughts guides me still

Lost in thoughts again
Memories of you burn bright
Shadows moving in
