Prelude to Shadows

Anticipation sparks imagination
Melody of dreams create magic
Lost fragments form memories
Life undeniable and timeless

Poetry in Motion is a prompt based group using words and/or pictures as inspiration. In the poem above I have incorporated most of the word prompts (and a few linking words) used over the past few months:

Prelude to Shadows

Time Slips Away

Here is my poem for last weeks picture prompt for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion.

The Glow of Limelight

A concrete tomb of memory surrounds
Thoughts and past life roams free here
The dancer stares into empty space
For the briefest moment time slips away

Fifty years ago, it seems forever now
On a lighted stage she showed them how
A Sleeping Beauty like none had ever seen
Soon to be destined for the silver screen

Movements made with delicate precision
Then a moment of doubt and indecision
A fragile mind that could not be controlled
Reckless terrors took their gripping hold

Lost in a pit of self loathing and destruction
When all cries for help meet with obstruction
Ending on a deserted road one dark rainy night
Never again to dance in the glow of limelight

Fifty years ago on a lighted stage she showed them how
Remembering aching limbs and flowing perspiration
With memories of applause she takes her final bow
Exit stage right, Sleeping Beauty dances forevermore

The Glow of Limelight

Magic Tanka

Here is my poem for this weeks prompt for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion. Using the words THOUGHT and MAGIC as well as a photo.

Mysteries of thought
A time-worn aporia
Games of sensation
Illusions from a warlock
Conjured moments of drama

Ribbons of Silk

Bellow is my posting for this week’s prompt on the Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion.

Borrowed Words

Seduction timed and on cue
Passions borrowed
Desires rehearsed
Lost in darkness
Cold and grey

Disguising a bitter taste
A chocolate cover envelops
Wrapped in red satin and lace
Tied with ribbons of silk

The story unfolds
Tales rewritten and retold
Shifting syntax
Underlies the difficulty
With loss of insight
From words that no longer excite
But safewords nonetheless

Pages torn from a book
Scene after scene
Learned to perfection
Yearning to be directed
Guided and comforted

Alone and unsure
Imagination drifts
Open and exposed
As secrets are revealed
With words borrowed
Longing for release

Tousled Words

This is my first posting for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion. A poetry challenge group run by Angel Poet – you can find her on Twitter: @Myauthor_angel. I was invited to join by Deb – Twitter: @DebraDML – Blog: Words across the Oceans.

Into Twilight

Broken thoughts escape through a misty haze
Creating visions from fevered dreams unknown
Wordless phantasms merge and mingle in fright
Lost horizons seeped in despair emerge naked

Searching the depths for grotesque bounty untold
Swirling thoughts coalesce in a timeless breath
Shifting seasons presented for no other reason
Spinning relentlessly in a distorted landscape

In death throes the earth spits a venomous fire
Sulphur clouds choke the air and darken the skies
Leaving wondrous sunsets no soul can ever bear
Shadows cackle while the Banshees remain silent

Perched alone on the cliff face the tree of life stands
A once proud survivor of piteous lives and dreams
Tousled words no longer assault its ancient foes
Only silence remains as the world moves into twilight
