Here is my poem for last weeks picture prompt for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion.
The Glow of Limelight
A concrete tomb of memory surrounds
Thoughts and past life roams free here
The dancer stares into empty space
For the briefest moment time slips away
Fifty years ago, it seems forever now
On a lighted stage she showed them how
A Sleeping Beauty like none had ever seen
Soon to be destined for the silver screen
Movements made with delicate precision
Then a moment of doubt and indecision
A fragile mind that could not be controlled
Reckless terrors took their gripping hold
Lost in a pit of self loathing and destruction
When all cries for help meet with obstruction
Ending on a deserted road one dark rainy night
Never again to dance in the glow of limelight
Fifty years ago on a lighted stage she showed them how
Remembering aching limbs and flowing perspiration
With memories of applause she takes her final bow
Exit stage right, Sleeping Beauty dances forevermore
