Micro Poetry Times Five – Three

Mid-morning thoughts float on by
Watching clouds part in a blue sky
Then back to the daily grind
As storm clouds gather in my mind

Droning hiss of pouring rain
Drip, drop from the kitchen sink
Discordant melodies merge
….stillness descends

Words of truth
Words of wisdom
Words unspoken
Silent words

Passing moments in time
Some brief, some linger
Others weigh heavy
Longing to be lifted
And pass on to better times

I can feel the heat of darkness burning
Consumed in the flames of desire
Lost in the light of an early dawn

…I Begin to Write

I was asked by Debra Lane to write a poem for day one of NaPoWriMo with word prompt NEGATION. This is what developed…

 Forgotten Words

I find my favourite spot and sit down
Arrange my paper, pens, and pencils
I’ve brought a drink and few nibbles
I take pen in hand and begin to write

…I begin to write…I begin to write…
But for some reason nothing happens
It’s the darndest thing, I try and try
But I’ve…I’ve forgotten the words

I search through the things I brought
Over and over I check everything
But they are not there, they’re gone!
I sit for a moment thinking…thinking

Were they “fish”, “cat”, “bed” or “goat”?
Don’t be silly they are absurd words
Then I think of…of “expialidocious”
That might be close to one, but nope

Now let me think of this logically
They are words I’ve now forgotten
I must have remembered them once
Ha! “time” no that wasn’t one either

What happens to them when they change?
I mean between remembering the words
And the moment I have forgotten them?
Do they fade from knowing to not knowing?

A kind of never, never land for partial words
Do they loose their vowels or consonants first?
Or a combination of both or letters randomly?
That can’t be it who heard of such nonsense?

This kind of thinking is getting me nowhere
And that I know is not one of the words I forgot
I am somewhere and I do remember that!
Might be best to simply list what they’re not

I can see this list will take awhile
Longer than I bargained for surely
I only came here to write a poem
…hello! I feel something stirring…

It’s…It’s…”on the tip of my tongue”

Sleepless Nights

Clouds Linger

Lost in thought
Where does time go?
Searching for answers
Finding only questions
Leaving accusations behind
Forever in doubt

Looking toward the past
Hoping for a future
Trapped in between
With no where to go
From sleepless nights
Dreams are rekindled

Once choices were easy
Youthful days long ago
Energies ran free
Passions held firmly
Paths were clear
Now clouds linger

Weary but unbroken
Choices still remain
Fewer than before
But there nonetheless
Time to collect things forgotten
Before they’re gone forever

Clouds Linger

Haiku Ten – Eight

This haiku welcomes
Musical orchid delight
In verse melodies

Connections through time
Directing education
Emancipation

Words ignite desires
Passions flow beneath covers
Pleasures of reading

A spring flower blooms
Smiling eyes bursting with joy
Beauty in season

Reasons forgotten
Light dims with every heartbeat
Your touch haunts me still

Captured by your smile
Laughing eyes show me the way
Darkness never dawns

Questions surround me
Answers move into focus
Silence without tears

Laughter without tears
Silence without loneliness
Nothing without pain

Restless thoughts ramble
Shadows whisper endlessly
Silhouettes dancing

On a stormy night
An Old Dark House mystery
Imagination

Silhouetted Dreams

Corrupted Words

Silhouetted dreams frozen in moonlight
Shrouded in mist, forgotten and forsaken
Sullen and forlorn, yearning for release
Spiralling memories dance before my eyes

Desires locked in delicate disguise
Passions creep from knowing eyes
Whispered dreams escape in a kiss
As moistened lips part with a sigh

A gentle breeze stirs a silent twilight
Shadows fade into silvery moonlight
Rage burns in the early morning sun
Lost in a velvet darkness without you

Rousing thoughts long at rest in sadness
Tainted lives lost in a trail of inked tears
Sorrow pours forth in corrupted words
Breathe in experience, exhale imagination

Corrupted Words

Drifting Away

Lost in the Moment

White lace caresses
Silken desires ignite
Satin and lace
Becoming one
Thoughts yearning

Calmness descends
Restful mind awakens
Nerves tingle and pulse
Sensitive hairs prickle
Whispered breath excites

Blindfold isolates
Ropes end longing
Stillness engulfs
Sensations tingle
Drifting away

Words caress mind and body
Pauses heightens pleasure
Hot breath on moistened lips
Flowing
Scents fill the air
Excitement rises
Every breath pulsates

Tender flesh quivers
Lips on silken thighs
Moving higher
Just out of reach
Yearning for release

Heartbeat races
Beads of sweat pool
Relentless words spoken
Sensual and forbidden
Freeing all inhibitions

Breathing quickens
Straining for release
Lost in the moment
Contact is made
Muscles spasm
Wave after wave
Shudders through
Mind and body

Strong arms engulf
Hands caress
Guiding
Prolonging

Blindfold removed
Ropes untied
Reality shatters dream
Mind races once more
Longing to return again

Lost in the Moment

Haiku Ten – Five

Dreams live forever
A frozen moment in time
Just paper in fire

Words crowd around me
Lost in thought as time passes
Only memories

Lies betray the words
Hiding behind smiling eyes
Deceit becomes truth

A lost Valentine
Searching the maelstrom of love
A Twitter romance

Pausing for a breath
Broken memories calling
Lost horizons blur

Waiting patiently
All dressed for a holiday
Silent companion

Lips touch, lost in time
A sweet embrace, dreams fulfilled
Silver screen desires

A single snow drop
Beauty reaching to the sun
Garden of desires

Excitement rises
Lights dim, the projector whirls
Then there was silence

Black and white day dreams
Longing for silent kisses
Lost in the shadows

The Enchanted Forest

The following poem was inspired by the photo below. Sarah Ward Smith (Twitter: @theodoremoo) sent me the photo and asked if I would write a poem about it. This is what happened…

Forgotten Tales

A gently breeze echoes through the enchanted forest
The moon and stars are muted with billowing clouds
And half remembered tales linger among silent trees
Their words trapped in darkness searching for home

As twilight falls excited voices erupt into the night
Chilled with fear as they wander aimlessly onward
Thoughts glimpsed in the distance just out of sight
Distorted views encircle as perception is narrowed

Imagination rustles the damp carpet of pine needles
Sadness and doubt circle as a low lying mist rolls in
Whispered words from lost fables breathe once more
Releasing tormented memories in a thunderous roar

A blood red cloak hangs, dripping with tears of rage
Discarded and unrecognized, a symbol of innocence
Anguished souls united in their struggle for freedom
Imprisoned in the enchanted forest by the rising sun
