Memories You Once Had

This week’s poem for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion.

Carefree school days
Long summer nights
Magical Christmas mornings
And becoming lost in a book
Are memories you once had

Excitement of your fist kiss
Followed by heartbreaks
Getting your first job
And moving out on your own
Are memories you once had

Finding the love of your life
Happiness on your wedding day
Making a home for both of you
And planning for the future
Are memories you once had

Holding your first born
Joy of her first steps
First day of school
And all those other “firsts”
Are memories you once had

Sleepless nights as she grew up
Full of pride on graduation day
Sadness when she left home
And tears on her wedding day
Are memories you once had

Delight in holding your grandson
Devastated when your parents passed away
Growing old surrounded by those you love
And the pain of loosing your beloved
Are memories you once had

Confused as past moments fade
Feeling scared and all alone
Familiar faces are now strangers
And you are no longer safe at home
….are memories you now have

A Silhouette of Dreams

This week’s poem for Facebook Group: Poetry in Motion.

The Melody of Rain

With a minstrel’s heart she sings
Passions flow from knowing lips
Fingers caress with gentle touch
Caught in a silhouette of dreams

Moonlight moves toward slumber
Storm clouds choke morning light
Melody of rain mingles with music
And shadows dance in silver mists

In my minds eye over in an instant
But a lifetime felt on body and soul
Desires released and free to wander
A perfect moment of unending bliss

I know Where Happiness Lies

My Red-Haired Katie

To be sure I know where happiness lies
It’s in the arms of my red-haired Katie
The prettiest gal you ever did see
With smiling grey eyes and milky white thighs

It was under a starlit sky we knew
That this love we felt was ever so true
Holding each other tight all through the night
Making a vow that we would never part

We will be wed on this mid-summer’s day
And with that there is not much more to say
Except that I know my happiness lies
Between the thighs of my red-haired Katie

Day 1 in the #NaPoWriMo Challenge…

I must thank Debra Lane for asking me to participate with her ‪#‎NaPoWriMo‬ challenge.
I hope you will enjoy both our interpretations of the prompt ‪#‎Negation‬

Words across the Oceans

Day 1’s optional prompt is a poem of negation – yes (or maybe, no), challenging poets to write a poem that involves describing something in terms of what it is not, or not like. ~ via The NaPoWriMo Website

So with “Day 1’s Prompt” I have found a piece by The Nine Inch Nails, I also asked my friend & fellow Poet – Shawn D. Standfast for his Interpretation which you can read below… followed by my Submission

Happy reading and hope you all enjoy!

Head Like a Hole

god money’s not looking for the cure.
god money’s not concerned with the sick among the pure.
god money let’s go dancing on the backs of the bruised.
god money’s not one to choose.

Sleepless Nights

Clouds Linger

Lost in thought
Where does time go?
Searching for answers
Finding only questions
Leaving accusations behind
Forever in doubt

Looking toward the past
Hoping for a future
Trapped in between
With no where to go
From sleepless nights
Dreams are rekindled

Once choices were easy
Youthful days long ago
Energies ran free
Passions held firmly
Paths were clear
Now clouds linger

Weary but unbroken
Choices still remain
Fewer than before
But there nonetheless
Time to collect things forgotten
Before they’re gone forever
