Dreams Set Adrift

Lost

With a touch as cold as the plague
And blacker than thoughts unborn
Hands outstretched in supplication
Beseeching lives rejected and lost

Discarded moments circle endlessly
Swirling in bewildered desperation
A maelstrom of memories descend
Teetering on the edge of unknown

Wearied ghosts lurk on the horizon
Occupied with their tasks unseen
Shrill winds blow through them
A reminder of things abandoned

In a church built from its sadness
Searching for former redemption
Dreams set adrift in the twilight
A life torn asunder by loneliness

The Velvet Darkness

In My Dreams

A twilight sun sinks low on the horizon
Light escapes as shadows creep forth
Clouds tremble in the death throes of day
Eyes pierce the velvet darkness and gloat

Moonbeams dance on the wings of fireflies
The breeze hums a tune hauntingly familiar
Thoughts begin to gather and circle in unison
Moon flowers open, a beacon of white light

A ghostly kiss on cheek, cool and mournful
Fingers dance on electric skin, shivers ripple
Her scent surrounds, sweet, overpowering
Memories shatter the stillness, tears flow

In my dreams she wants me
In my dreams she taunts me
In my dreams she haunts me
In my dreams I am lost to her
