This week’s poem for the Facebook Group Poetry in Motion, a picture prompt (see below):
A Journey of Awakening
Life lived in seclusion, a comfort of sorts
Moments lost forever but never forgotten
Lost in a wilderness of self doubt and fear
Born from rejection and feeding on pain
A heart broken and torn from a jilted love
Left standing alone, lost in bewilderment
Habit and rosary replace wedding finery
Life of devotion for many, never for self
Prayer and study fade into the distance
Thoughts longing for ungodly caresses
Memories surface and the body yearns
Hidden desires creep forth in the night
Alone, exploring mind and body freely
Repressed passions flow in the darkness
Unholy thoughts move into the daylight
Searching for that kindred spirit to share
Hushed voices begin a journey of awakening
Habits of old discarded as sacred oaths shed
New holy vows exchanged with a silent kiss
Secret desires freed and passions embraced
Darkness ebbs away as starlight fills their eyes
The sweet scent of flowers in bloom surrounds
Floating on a feeling of euphoria and calmness
Born in pain a life in seclusion blossoms again

Exquisitely beautiful–and I know that final line so very well.
