Words Get in the Way
Trying to say what I feel
The words get in the way
They do not capture it
Their effect is the opposite
When the silence looms
The hurt in your eyes
The ache of emptiness
Leaves me no tenderness
It is the sleepless nights
Your face in my thoughts
Finds me when I’m alone
Then I sink like a stone
I took the wrong path
Relived and regretted
Moments frozen in time
Responsibility was mine
Voice fails, words written
Tears soaking into the page
Forming words from my heart
The best way for a new start
Giving truth and meaning
A poet’s tears write clear
Overflowing from inside
Heart and soul will guide
