Before the Words
It must be my way of speaking to you
Conclusions meet before all’s said and done
So in haste things spoken before we knew
All is in doubt before we have begun
You don’t understand the words that I say
They don’t fit in with what you are hearing
As if they are meaningless and grey
You reply in words hurtful with feeling
Once there was a time of love and passion
But then storm clouds gathered in our life
Winds delivering grief and abandon
With a backwash of turmoil and strife
We will live with this every single night
Pondering in the dark arguments spent
That was when our love up and took flight
A life sentence given without intent
